Headteacher’s Welcome

My name is Alexandra Walsh and I am delighted to introduced myself to you as the new Head Teacher of Eton Dorney Therapeutic school.

It is a privilege to have been appointed by Calcot Services and entrusted with taking over the job, developing such a beautiful therapeutic school. I have a wealth of knowledge and experiences in working with pupils who at times have complexed lives and need an additional framework of support to enable them to access education. I share the strong ethos currently embedded throughout Eton Dorney which is to ensure that every pupil within my educational provision have an enriched curriculum, which is bespoken to the needs of the individuals and offers a purpose while inspiring pupils to access lifelong learning.

I recognise this academic year has been a challenge for many, and with this in mind we are developing our education offer for September, to ensure that every pupil has access to additional academic and therapeutic support where needed. Along with this, Students in KS3 and KS4 have been part of our remodeling vision, which will enable pupils to access offsite vocational activities, college’s, and work experience placements. Our offer here at Eton Dorney school will be to ensure that all students leave us in year 11, with at least 6 accredited qualifications which will include core subjects alongside vocational ones.

I am entering the school at an exciting time and am aware that Pupils, parents/cares and staff  have all been part of the exciting journey Eton Dorney school has been on to date, with this comes an extension of resources and facilities, which we have begun to embed into our school community alongside supporting and upskilling of our dedicated staff who continue to show unquestionable commitment to your children, the restructure of staffing in support of the expansion and the needs of the pupils has been taking place during my first half term in post and our current recruitment drive to increases specialist professionals at Eton Dorney school is well underway and myself and staff are very much looking forward to what September has to offer.

With warm regards

Alexandra Walsh
